Top 10 Tuesday: Books I’d Love to See Adapted into Shows/Movies

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl!

I used to love participating in Top Ten Tuesdays over on my old blog, so (with inspiration from Destiny) I decided to make my return to the weekly meme! This Tuesday, readers are sharing books that they’d love to see adapted as a Netflix film or show! Personally, I don’t care which platform they land on, I just know that I need them in my life.

Note: I was really going to share details on what each book was about, but I’ve come down with some nausea. However, if there’s a book listed that you are unaware of, I 100% recommend checking it out!

Unboxed by Briana Morgan

Horror fans, I’m gonna call it right now — Briana Morgan is the next big name in the genre. Her most recent release Unboxed, which is actually written in play format, introduces us to Greg Zipper, a paranormal vlogger, who’s determined to reach one million subscribers. In order to reach his goals, Greg unboxes a dark web mystery box for his channel. Things, of course, go downhill from there

Technology? Horror? Dark web? Yes, yes, yes. Unboxed would make for the perfect found footage film.

You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson

100% screeching that You Should See Me in a Crown is getting the love it deserves & super excited that it’s a Reese Witherspoon’s book club pick! I love cute & I love happy & seeing a Black girl center stage of the cute and happy? YES PLEASE.

Sour Candy by Kealan Patrick Burke

How long is it going to take for the world to give me the one thing I want: a Sour Candy film?

This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada

& .. this shocks absolutely nobody that knows me. This Mortal Coil is one of my all-time favorites written by one of my all-time favorite humans (& this book brought me & two of my other all-time favorite humans closer, Kal & Taylor — love u, squadmates). 10/10 would love to see this play out on screen (preferably as a show, so that I can become unhealthily obsessed with the characters & witness their long-term development, ok thanks).

Cirque Berserk by Jessica Guess

Give me ’80s slashers or give me death! I absolutely love Cirque Berserk. If you have yet to read it, you’re in luck! This novella will be September’s read for Attack of the Killer Book Club (Facebook, Twitter), so join us! ♥

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

Sometimes, I just need a movie that will make me cheese the whole way through, so yes, please give me rom-coms that take place in the Brown Sisters universe!

Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare

Edelweiss+ denied me of all happiness the moment they said that I couldn’t read an e-ARC of Clown in a Cornfield. So, yes, I have yet to read this. However, I know me well enough to know that I need this to be adapted to film.

Once Upon a Con series

Geeky fairy-tale retelling rom-coms? Literally, a no-brainer.

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

This may or may not be a thing that’s already being adapted, I can’t remember. But again, give me the ’80s. Give me demons. Give me a good time.

Bloom by Kevin Panetta

If you haven’t already figured it out: I like things really cute or really spooky, there’s barely any in-between. Bloom is honestly so cute & gets extra bonus points for taking place in a bakery.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig

House of Salt and Sorrows is my most recent obsession & I absolutely need to see this spooky The Twelve Dancing Princesses-retelling on screen. Like.. asap.

Yes, I forgot how to count in the making of this post & there are actually eleven books listed. Oops. Do you want to see adaptions of any of these books? What books would be on your list? Feel free to link your own Top Ten in the comments!

  1. First and foremost, welcome back to TTT! I wrote my first TTT in 6 months last week so I feel you on the return lol.

Second, I ALSO (shocking no one) included This Mortal Coil and tagged you and Kal! Love that you did too!!

Lastly, I need to get to House of Salt & Sorrows like asap. Especially since both of my squadmates loved it so much!!

  2. I love that we both were inspired by Destiny to return to this. I do love your list. I have to read Unboxed. I am in love with the cover. I also will be picking up Cirque Berserk for your reading club.

I would love a Sour Candy movie and House of Salt and Sorrows. Those would be so awesome!
