I’ve been aware of the Off the Grid Readathon (hosted by Shanah over at Bionic Book Worm & Justine over at I Should Read That!), but never fully dove in.. until this round, because, whew, do I need to remove myself from social media for a few days. Huge shoutout to Destiny for bringing this readathon to the forefront of my brain with her TBR!
Here’s the thing, pals. I’m angry. This is an emotion that I really don’t feel that often — but this year has been a huge flaming pile of trash. Not only are we in the middle of a pandemic, but I’m also starting to take notice of how many people care very little about those around them. It’s hitting me hard & I’m just extremely disappointed.
So, hashtag bless for this readathon (along with the release of Ghosts of Tsushima!) for encouraging me to take a step back from the shitty hot takes and upsetting news & focus on reading some good books & self-care. I’ll still come around for DM/buddy reading purposes, but will not be scrolling timelines or newsfeeds.
Off the Grid Readathon starts at 12:00AM on July 17th and ends at midnight on the 19th.
Typically, there are no challenges in this readathon. However, this time around the goal is to read A BOOK WRITTEN BY A BLACK AUTHOR.
Here are the books I plan on reading! Will I read all of these? No, probably not. But I tried to grab some of the shorter reads from my TBR/ARCs list to include!
